Update on recent burglaries and vehicle crime in Sutton Coldfield

We want to make you aware that we’ve seen an increase in both burglaries and vehicle crime in parts of Sutton Coldfield in recent weeks.

We know this is worrying and we want to reassure you that we’re increasing patrols in the affected areas and working closely with partners to keep you safe.

A common theme in recent reports is offenders getting in through the rear of properties. Please take a moment today to check that back doors and windows are locked, and that your garden gates and garage doors are secured. If you have outside lighting or motion sensors, make sure they’re working as a well‑lit area can be enough to deter someone.

If you’re heading into your home, take all valuables inside with you and avoid leaving anything in your vehicle, including handbags, devices or money.

We’re also asking anyone with keyless vehicles to be extra cautious. Keep your keys away from doors and windows and consider using a Faraday pouch.
